simple machine

2012, 15 min, 16mm

A silent, hand-processed 16mm film. The black and whit negative images appear in a group of fragments that attempt to describe the tension between immediate perception and linguistic descriptions. There is no language in the film, but shapes emerge that begin to describe the process of linguistic framing and communication. The silence attempts to preserve a phenomenological intensity. Every physical thing shimmers with intensity.  The earth shivers in repose.  Form is embedded in the pathways connecting the palm of the hand to the branches of the tree.
